Lightweight, portable and unmatched in durability, the DigiMemo takes the concept of the Tablet PC to the budget end of the market. The concept is simple: you place a pad of any ordinary paper onto the clipboard and write using a special digital pen. When you have finished writing, you attach the DigiMemo to your PC or Laptop using the USB connection and upload the handwritten notes. Alternatively, notes can be sent via Bluetooth (optional feature) to a mobile phone (OS Windows Mobile version 5/6 and Symbian) and sent via email or MMS.

Handwritten notes can then be edited in interesting and diverse ways. The DigiMemo generates its own proprietary file format which can only be read by the driver’s software. Text can be cut and pasted into any application or e-mailed as an attachment. Files can also be saved as BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG or PDF format. Replacing the need for whiteboards and flipcharts, the DigiMemo can be used for online writing when connected to your PC or Laptop. Users can also annotate directly onto a Powerpoint presentation or a PDF document.

When used with Vista or Windows 7, the DigiMemo can also be used to annotate directly into Word or Excel with the option of automatic conversion to digital text. When using a PDF document in Adobe Reader that has been created with “Extend to Reader” function, annotation can be done in a number of different ways including freehand (handwritten), text boxes, callouts, comment boxes, etc.

MyScript Notes Handwriting Recognition Software provides a fast and accurate method of turning ordinary handwriting into digital information for further use in back-end applications such as Microsoft Word and Outlook. MyScript Notes respects the original layout of documents and recognizes capital letters, hand printed and cursive handwriting, as well as isolated characters, shapes and tables. The user can also select non-writing objects within the DigiMemo file and define these as shapes or freeform drawings, enabling a combined handwritten and drawing document to be converted into text and illustration. MyScript Notes allows users to set up their own personal handwriting profile to improve the recognition of their individual style. For names and industry specific terminology, the customizable dictionary allows the user to add words, as well as create auto replacements for acronyms, abbreviations and their own unique shorthand. Simple Solutions can provide their customers with Afrikaans handwriting recognition (with plans to develop in Zulu and Xhosa), as well as pre-defined customer-specific dictionaries.

The DigiMemo Package is compatible with Microsoft XP, Vista and Windows 7 and includes the DigiMemo A402 Digital Notepad with Digital Pen, DigiMemo Manager Software, MyScript Notes Handwriting Recognition Software (full license), 2GB SD Card (additional memory), USB Cable and A4 Portfolio / Carry Case.
